Chief of Staff - Director of Business Management - Operations - Hybrid-2104855

Description

The Chief of Staff - Business Management - Operations acts as a strategic advisor to the Operations Head of Strategy and Transformation and senior management team. They will provide cross-functional leadership including system evaluations to support business growth, resource planning, project management, strategic initiatives, prioritization of internal operational needs, and liaison with administrative support from support areas within Santander (legal, finance, IT, human resources). The incumbent collaborates and bridges the key operating areas of Santander by identifying and helping to prioritize competing needs of the overall business. Critical to success is the ability to build internal relationships with colleagues, attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to manage up. The Director, Business Management works closely with the Executive Director to manage the needs of the business and contributes to the long-term success of the company.

Responsibilities & Key Skills:

  • Plans and directs all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the Operations organization
  • Analyzes and evaluates services, identifying opportunities to enhance performance or drive value-add activities
  • Ensures timely and effective completion of projects and initiatives
  • Collaborates with Risk partners to support the closure of third party, self-identified, and/or audit findings
  • Engages frequently with business lines, building relationships with stakeholders across Operations and the broader organization
  • Monitors financial position, ensuring we are operating consistent with budget expectations and projections are accurate
  • Partners with procurement colleagues in support of contract renewals and negotiations
  • Responsible for end-to-end ownership of a subset of vendor relationships across lines of business, managing activities such as performance monitoring, risk management, incident management, reporting, and general oversight.
  • Ability to prioritize and reprioritize as conditions change
  • Outstanding research, analytical and problem-solving skills, especially the ability to distill technology landscapes, trends, and risks into actionable business outcomes
  • Keeping up to date on the latest technologies, standards, and tools in areas relevant to the rapidly changing digital environment
  • Act as technical lead on specific technology strategy and governance initiatives

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree; in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or equivalent field, or equivalent work experience
  • 9-12 years; Relevant business planning, project, and financial experience
  • Experience in building and maintaining complex stakeholder relationships at multiple levels
  • Extensive experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining professional relationships, and providing consistent and dependable support

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, building and maintaining professional relationships, and providing consistent and dependable support
  • Ability to identify efficiencies, successfully communicate horizontally and laterally, and are internally motivated to drive change, opportunities for exposure, and career growth
  • Ability to recognize potential roadblocks/obstacles, heading them off when possible and escalating to Executive Director
  • Advanced MS Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • Confidence to take charge in the absence of detailed instructions
  • Confidence to thoughtfully question/challenge policies & procedures that no longer seem fit for purpose
  • Possess the agility to react and effectively manage competing priorities
  • Familiarity with financial tracking, forecasting, and budgeting
  • Inquisitive nature and capacity to research unfamiliar topics to resolve a concern or identify the source of an issue
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Minimal physical effort such as sitting, standing, and walking.
